Hygiene and Prevention

We want you to achieve and enjoy ongoing dental health. We will show you how to care for your mouth on a daily basis to help prevent further problems.

Healthy gums, healthy body

Your gums are the key to a healthy smile and more...

You know the ritual, brush and floss. You know the routine, you do it every day because you want a good looking smile and fresh breath. Those patients who are diligent about this routine reap rewards much greater than just a good looking smile.

Recent research has shown there may be a correlation between a unhealthy mouth and heart disease. Further work is being carried out.

The main cause of gum disease is poor oral hygiene, when techniques used for brushing and flossing are not carried out effectively. This poor hygiene allows plaque to build up along the gum line. It sticks to the tooth surface and can inflame the gums, a condition called 'gingivitis'.

Blood on the toothbrush or dental floss is one of the earliest signs of gingivitis.

Our hygiene team can help you achieve a healthier smile.
