Mini Implants

Mini dental implants have been in use for several years, particularly in the USA. Success rates for these treatments are very high - especially in the lower jaw where most mini-implants tend to be used.

Mini-implants are typically used to stabilise loose or painful dentures, but can also be used as temporary supports during traditional implant treatments. In selected cases they may also be used to support permanent crowns.
Mini-implants have several advantages for patients;

  1. The surgical placement of the implants is very simple and painless.
  2. Afterpain is minimal or non-existent in many cases.
  3. The disruption to everyday life is therefore also minimal for the patient.
  4. The cost of treatment is much less than that associated with traditional implant treatments.

However, mini-implants are not suitable for all situations. Your suitability for this treatment will be assessed at your Implant consultation appointment.
